I am thrilled to welcome you to this year’s Masterclass in Foregut Surgery, hosted by the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine at The University of Hong Kong. This conference represents an exciting opportunity for us to gather and exchange knowledge in the field of foregut surgery.

This year, our focus will be on gastric cancer, a disease that presents significant challenges and requires ongoing advancements in diagnosis and treatment. Our one-day conference will delve into various aspects of gastric cancer, including its diagnostic approaches, surgical and endoscopic techniques, biomarkers and personalized medicine, innovative treatment strategies, and management of peritoneal diseases and oligometastases.  We have curated a diverse program that encompasses the latest research findings, and clinical insights related to gastric cancer management.

We are honoured to have esteemed experts from Japan, Korea, France and China in addition to our local faculty. Their wealth of knowledge and expertise will provide valuable perspectives and enrich the discussions throughout the conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with these experts, ask questions, and learn from their experiences.

In addition to the engaging lectures and presentations, we are excited to offer a cadaver workshop focused on advanced surgical and endoscopic techniques for gastric cancer. This hands-on workshop will provide a unique opportunity for participants to enhance their technical skills and gain practical experience under the guidance of experienced surgeons.

We have carefully planned this event to ensure a conducive and collaborative environment for learning and networking. It is our belief that by bringing together professionals from different backgrounds and specialities, we can foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive advancements in the field of foregut surgery. The hybrid webinar component will also ensure participants to join from afar who could not attend in person.

We are delighted to invite you to join us in person for the third Masterclass in Foregut Surgery. The conference will take place on December 16-17, 2023 in Hong Kong. The theme this year is “Gastric Cancer Management: Traditions Meet Modern Techniques".

There have been revolutionary advancements in gastric cancer treatment, including innovations in endoscopic resection techniques, minimally invasive surgeries, and oncological therapies. In the upcoming Masterclass, we aim to integrate the best scientific evidence from the past with the latest innovations in medicine. It is a great honor to invite eminent speakers from China, France, Japan, Korea, as well as distinguished local speakers, to share their cutting-edge research and views on the ever-evolving management of gastric cancer. You will be updated on a broad array of diagnoses, surgeries, and oncological therapies for gastric cancer. This is an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and networking. Similar to the previous year, the highlight of the Masterclass will be a hands-on cadaver workshop on minimally invasive gastrectomy and endoscopic surgery.

This conference is free to attendees from around the world. Local delegates are invited to join the physical meeting, while overseas delegates can choose to participate in person or via the virtual platform.
